Depends on condition, and amount of "correct" parts, or provenance of the history of the history of the rifle, and NO import marks.
IMHO - Basic complete rifle with Winchester receiver and barrel with shootable bore - $800 to $1200.
Winchester Bolt - add $100
Winchester stock - add $250-300, especially if the wood is solid - no splits, cracks, no major refinish, or bubba-ized.
If the majority of the rest of the small parts are Winchester, it's better value, but not a huge leap.
If the bore is decent, not dark, not rusted out - add another $100.
The bayonet (can't see the makers mark) is $100 for a British marked, maybe $120-150 for a Remington, probably close to $180-200 for a Winchester blade.
The CMP has had 1917s for sale at ~ $750 in the past year at all three stores, and in recent months in the Talladega Store - a number of those rifles are currently being flipped on GB for the prices above.
Good informative post. Thanks. My buddy tells me I "need" a m1917 that hasn't been sporterized, but I tell him I started out with a sporter model when I was 12. Have had many and actually prefer and appreciate a good sporter. He has a Winchester m1917 in all original condition that he gave $200.00 for. Around here locally, you are lucky if you find a nice one under $1,000.00.... If a guy were wanting to buy an original, it looks like he'd be money ahead going through CMP. Kind of like the M1 Garands..
