I used to buy rabies vaccines at the Farmers Co-Op. It cost about $5 and it came in a box with a single dose vial, a syringe, and a tag for the dog’s collar. About 15 years ago the veterinary lobby got the law changed so the Co-Op couldn’t sell them any more, now you’ve got to haul your dog to the vet to get it vaccinated at a cost of $30 or so. The result is that now hardly anyone living in the country has their animals vaccinated because it’s too much of a PITA and costs too much if you have multiple dogs.

So now we probably have 10% the number of animals vaccinated that we used to because the vets forced people to pay them instead of letting the owner do it themself. Bunch of greedy bastards.
