I once thought it was a good idea to try to get some of that under control. I made it about 5 feet from the porch and realized that if the Good Lord wanted the area to be mowed, He'd just have another wildfire run through the area. The yard keeps going for many miles until it hits the Crazies (it's only mine for 20 acres, though).
