Anybodies guess considering how screwed-up it is nowadays, but back in the day, any discharge from the U.S. military other than full Honorable, could be a game changer in the civilian world. Every job application I ever saw had the Yes / NO question "Military Service?" on it. If the answer was "Yes" then it asked "Length of Service" and
"Type of Discharge"...
