There are several memoirs like this in audio book form. All of the eastern front. Great reads.

If I recall there was an event where the German soldiers were marching after having been in heavy combat in the crimea and one soldier lost his grip and bolted from the ranks and started raping a a local girl. The German officer went over and shot him on the spot.

The book is well worth reading.

If this is the same episode in the war I read the account that the girl, by accounts very pretty, had waved to some in the column and wished them good luck. It was right after that the attempted rape occurred. They left him by the side of the rode with his pants down as a reminder to others.
