What about trading?
Do you think trading this fancy Browning after enhancement of the wood for a used Dakota 76, even swap, was Kosher?

I don't know.
It would be better if you had both.
I don’t have unlimited resources, try to keep my equity in guns I’m using. Safes are expensive snd I’m not a hoarder. The Browning was at about half value due to the wood. I knew I could make some money fixing the stock, which I did. Never bought it as a keeper. It was a means, not an end.
And, I didn’t mention that the Dakota was a .270 for obvious reasons. Ha!
But, traded it even for an Ed Brown Damara .300 Win Mag, which is a keeper. So swapping and enhancing value to get to a desirable end point is worth the effort.
