It would be better if you had both.

I don’t have unlimited resources, try to keep my equity in guns I’m using. Safes are expensive snd I’m not a hoarder. The Browning was at about half value due to the wood. I knew I could make some money fixing the stock, which I did. Never bought it as a keeper. It was a means, not an end.

And, I didn’t mention that the Dakota was a .270 for obvious reasons. Ha!

But, traded it even for an Ed Brown Damara .300 Win Mag, which is a keeper. So swapping and enhancing value to get to a desirable end point is worth the effort.
