I notice the cartridge OAL is same as the 9mm (1.169").
Something like this could conceivably enable a small pistol like the P365 or Glock 43, or similar to accommodate a 15-round staggered magazine without any magazine extending floorplates.
I doubt it will get too far though. Seems the 9mm is deeply entrenched and well supported.
