That old standard Buck 110 in the test would be Buck's 420HC blade steel instead of their common upgraded S30V. The standard 420HC is pretty pedestrian stuff, though Buck obviously does a good job with it. It is easy to find a Buck with upgraded S30V steel and there have been a lot of cutting test pitting different manufacturers against each other and Buck always comes out rating high in those test.
