Picking blue crabs for crab cakes is a long standing tradition around here for wives and moms... Been that way forever.

I worked Alaska as a very young man for Tanners (i.e. Bairdi and Opilio) and Kings...

Tanners and Kings are super easy to pick and eat.

Most people do not know the difference...

Chesapeake Blue Crabs make better cakes... but are a PITA to pick.

Sidenote... I did a fish cake recipe a while back... pretty good easy chow.
