If you turn as a zero turn, you will not tear up the grass.
You aren't turning as a aur.
You are pivoting on one wheel.
The proper way to turn is to push one lever forward and the other back.
You then pivot on the center axis.
And no wheel spins or slides.
I've tried.

Was playing with it again, it's doable. But my habits....
Don't know why I gave up before.
Watch out at first, when you turn, it's fast.
