Hopefully some day we will find definitive evidence on whether or not Arthur produced 1911 slides for the government. This has been a topic of 1911 collectors for several years. Recent evidence is starting to lean towards no. One of the latest discoveries was a memo dated 5/27/1921 from the Ordnance Department stating that slides were again being manufactured, but it did not specifically say by Springfield Armory (the armory had not for several years). Also,recently an M1903A barrel was found with the same circled S flaming bomb stamp.
