LOP shortening is an easy fix. It’s the other way around that pisses me off.
I typically like a 14”-14.25” LOP. Winchester 70s and Ruger M77s always came with 13.75” LOP with a thin recoil pad. I would always just ditch the thin pad for a 1” thick Pachmayr Decelerator pad and “Presto” LOP issue fixed.
Remington’s 13.5” LOP and thicker factory recoil pads made increasing the LOP to my liking a problem….thick spacers are ugly.
Hence the reason I only own one Remington 700 to this day…and it’s in a McMillan stock with a 14”+ LOP.😁
