What vote does she bring to the Party that automatically doesn't already vote Democrat? None.
You seem to be operating with the assumptions that actual voter numbers matter.
Then why does everyone get would up over XXX person running for the DNC? If the person doesn't matter because those stuffing the box/counting the votes do - who cares who they run?

I think they’re looking for someone who could plausibly win to try and keep the illusion of votes as meaningful going for those whose faith is in the screen people.
