My go to Western panfish rod is a Cabela’s Classic Glass Rod. A bit short at only 6’6”, but it also works for trout in the nearby small streams. I also have the CGR in 2 and 5 weights, but find them just so-so. The 5 weight especially. I’d much rather fish a Fenwick FF786 using a DT 5wt line. Just a superb rod.

What I should do, is wrap a Steffen 7’3” 2/3 blank, as it’s likely right at the sweet spot for panfish glass. At the same time, dispose of the dozen or so other vintage fiberglass rods that I tried and didn’t fall in love with.
