I’ve had good luck on a handful of Montana stocks using Brownells alumahyde. Spray a base color and sponge on contrasting colors ala manners style.
Never tried to get a faux wood look but I’m sure if a guy wanted to spend the money a good cerakote guy that knows his way around an airbrush could likely make a good run at it.
