A gunsmith friend of mine was waiting for delivery of a real nice rifle a couple years ago via UPS. They turned up missing at the hub that delivers to our area. When he threatened to notify the ATF, UPS got very nervous but they never did find the gun. Apparently UPS has an internal scanning system that doesn't show up in the tracking that the customers see, so they can narrow it down to where it was in the building and who had access to it.
