I'd venture a guess most that grew up in the 80's believe "power ballads" from hair bands to be the pinnacle as seen in this thread.

Old guys like Shrapnel post up what they wrongly believe to be ballads from their era (Ina Gadda Davida? WTF?) and think they are on the money. Which is fine considering when asked for "Great modern rock albums" last week he posted one from the mid 70's.
