The original lot of H450 was a lot of surplus WC852. In the late 60's Lake City Arsenal loaded 30 US Gov (.30-06) M2 ball with WC852 ball powder rather than the IMR4895 used previously. The lot Hogdon bought was too slow burning to meet spec for the 150 grain M2 Ball load.

H450 worked well for me in 150 grain .270 and 180 grain .30-06 loads. Its should work well in the same applications that would call for IMR4831.
