For those interested in the location...it's very well known
Horseshoe Canyon....located in a 'detached unit' in Canyonlands NP'
Very remote......32 miles east from Hwy 24 on a fairly well graded BLM dirt road
Well worth the hike if you're up for it....the first section leads down 1.5 miles down to the canyon floor
With approx 1000' elevation drop...remember you have to come back up ! Expect 7-8 miles total trip
Two other ways to get into the canyon from the east & south...but are much more remote 4x4 trails
Walking the canyon is relatively easy once down....critters ?
Desert Bighorns very active...many many tracks but no sightings...Burros also..
Video (not mine) does a good job showing it....Wouldn't advise a summer visit at all...
