I’d probably agree. The Mashburn and Practical are like peas in a pod, performance should be much the same. I also went Mashburn due to the nostalgia and a couple forum enablers! Making cases is a bit more involved but that’d be the only advantage the Practical would have. But if set up correctly, a 7mm Rem mag is a far more Practical choice! Mine only gives up 50fps to my Mashburn.


My 7 Remington Mag has a factory barrel. It’s accurate but shows lots of pressure and for a load that won’t fuqk my brass, I had to load it down to just under 2800 with the 180.

My Mashburn shoots the 195 EOL at 2965

My Rem mag is a custom job with Benchmark tube. No issues getting 175 NPTs to 2975 fps. It’s short throated too, most of my loads are 3.340” or shorter, some clear down to 3.275”
