I'd hate to waste a WOA barrel on a dot sight. For a truck hunting gun just get a 2-7 or 3-9ish and put it in an Aero mount. If you want something small and light find an older Leupold 1-4.
I'll add my usual disclaimer that as soon as you add "self defense" or "home protection" all of my recommendations change, but it doesn't seem like that's what it's really for.
I have a leupld vxhog on one of my main hunting ars. Love the size and the scope, they do make the vx freedom 1-4 with an illuminated fire dot....so you can have both.
