Depends on if you value LR shooting or all the things required to get close such as scouting, setup, ingress, scent control, body stillness, knowing when to draw based on deer behavior/obstacles, etc.
Nothing wrong with whacking 'em at a long range you're sure of making, but it's certainly not everything.
