A bit late here for the game, but just perhaps to 'play through'! smile
Aside Rem Guy, re your reminiscence... '67 I was just coming out of a long dry "gun" hiatus as finishing up my undergrad work at U.Calif. Working, GI Bill & accelerated program; seldom two spare nickels to rub together! Worse, 'ebbtide' for some few nice rifles going out the door, 'bread $$'

Much as I've admired the Model 336 genre over decades as real quality sleepers of the lever rifle industry... My .219 "R" SN prefix came to me in the late eighties principally as some less common variations picking up collector steam. On that basis, it joined my 'young collection'. Not a handloader and the off-shelf chamberings as largely off-radar for me... Generally. But Marlin lure plus 'uncommon' & good price; made it mine!
Never shot it as a number of 336 stablemates filled in for its range time absence! Happy to have it as safe queen.
Pix below & for those unfamiliar with these .291 chamberings, note pix #4. These are notably heavy barrel rifles!
Best!
John
