If you don't remove the bolt and your barrel is tight, u run the risk of breaking extractor

The extractor fits into the extractor groove on the breech. If you manhandle/twist your barrel you can break the extractor. Happens frequently with Browning atd also
The extractor is in the groove on the breech when the bolt is locked back? Is that what you are saying?
