I have several Sig Romeo 5s, because they are cheap and they seem to work pretty well. I also have several of the reflex-style red dots, Vortex Vipers and Venoms, on various handguns.
If I felt the urge for something more Gucci, I would probably go with the Aimpoint PRO for an AR.
