Burleyboy, what you have described is what I would call virtue signaling. Not on your part but on the part of those who were trying to make you feel guilty for doing what normal people do. They were trying to make you feel guilty and make themselves feel superior to compensate for their own feeling of inferiority and inadequacy. Many people operate on an emotional level rather than an intellectual level. One of the big problems with society today.
