Hello. I have a rifle that belonged to my dad that is a Winchester 94 AE Big Bore in 356 Winchester. I know his load was a 220 Speer Hotcor @ 2300 fps but they quit making it. I'm Looking at a .358 220 Fury bullet or .358 225 Hawk bullet. Any experience with either one of these that would indicate I should maybe start with that bullet for elk? Plan on hunting with it in the timber so probably a 250 yard or closer elk rifle with a fixed low power scope (Maybe a Leupold 2.5x20). I know it's not the most efficient round but it was my dad's rifle and I'd enjoy hunting with it for nostalgic sake. I've thought about 200 TTSX and just hunt with one in the chamber and one in the magazine, Speer 180 FN, Hornady 200 round nose or Speer 250s with the nose flattened to be tube mag friendly, etc but the Hawk and the Fury are the tow I keep coming back to.
