I've noticed that seasoned big game hunters in Africa, hunting dangerous game, hold an extra cartridge or two between the fingers of their right hand when shooting with single shot or double rifles... and they can get off two or three very fast shots with a single rifle... or four very quick shots (with a double-rifle) this way.
