Maybe one would get better results with the longer barrel on the XLR. With my gun and this round, I'd be lucky to hit an elk at 300 yards..let alone kill it. :-)

Scott, I have a 336SS also (30-30) and it was not very fond the LR ammo either. I have a peep sight on my 336SS and was getting 4" groups.

What kind of sights were you using?

I have used the LR ammo in my H&R 1871 45-70. The rifle has a peep sight also and it shot 3" groups with the LR ammo.
