If you send it back they should send you an estimate for the repair before proceeding. I don't know if they could give you an estimate over the phone without seeing the rifle. Mine was under warranty so they covered the expenses. Mine too had the "Marlin Jam". It took 2 weeks from my door back to my door. Really good service I think and that was during the holidays too!
