I was thinking of rebarreling my model 7 to a 358 win, but just came across this 35-284. It has the same OAL, and all the benefits and negatives of the 284 case, but from what little I have found, it will REALLY drive a 35 cal. bullet. It looks like it takes a minimum of barrel length and about 5-10 grains less powder than a 350 rem mag to get about the same velocity.

ex.-35-284= 225gr bullet 22"bbl 53gr IMR 3031 2700 fps
350 rem mag 225gr bullet 22"bbl 62gr BL-C(2) 2700 fps

I was thinking of the 358 for a fairly light recoiling brush gun that would allow a quick second shot. That and the fact that I would have to swap bolt heads eliminated the 350 rem mag from consideration. This 35-284 sounds good, but I am having trouble digging up info on it. Anyone out there have any experience with it, or know someone who does?
