ElkHunter...you have the lowest serial numbered gun I have ever seen on a Super, and I have studied Supers since the 1970s. My friend has serial #1000 and he would never part with it.

Don't know what your friend plans to do with the gun but I would have it appraised by someone who specializes in 1911s. An auction company could probably get the most money for the gun...and if it is truely unfired it will bring big bucks...

So where has this gun been sitting for the last 80 years???

If you can get hold of a copy of the book "Colt's Super .38 The Production History" it will tell you all about the gun. the author is Douglas Sheldon and if you can get in contact with him he can probably give you an idea of what the gun is worth...
