at modern pressures you can hit 2800 to 2900 fps easily with a 140 grain bullet in the 6.5 x 55 if the rifle action is designed to handle modern pressures like that...

I do it all the time in a Model 70 action and a Ruger 77 action..

I am using old Speer Reloading data from their Number 7 manual..

and yes, It was worked up before I settled upon it..

and it is do'able with powders in the 4064 burn rate...

slower powders will do so with less pressure..
