Savage 99 - Thanks for the input - What is the 'fluid' steel method?' Is it casting the barrel from liquid metal, as in a foundry, or something else? Any detail about whether it is done standing or flat?

Is the twist info I frequently see then talking only about the rifling, not the welded twists in manufacturing some barrel?

Is the final bore size then drilled in, or is it as-cast? I assume it must be a drilling process of some kind, but I have never understood how the actual final bore and the rifling twist is put in, or whether the barrel maker can make the barrel any bore he wants, up to that point, within the limits of the manufactured diminsion limits...
