I didn't go with a different safety, but I changed out three model 98 springs to ones with higher spring rate. It does increase cocking effort, but I just deal with that.
Not too sure how much the lock time has improved however??
I do have aftermarket triggers in all of them.
The rifles shoot well, so I'm a happy hunter.
