If I remember correctly, Elmer Keith was Ross's mentor. In one of Keiths books he mentioned a young fellow named Ross Seyfried that ran a big cattle ranch and he didnt know how he found the time to hunt and shoot as much as he did.
I remember reading in a few articles that Ross has a son but I have never seen him write anything. Sure would be nice to see him pick up where his dad leaves off.
Ross's son has several ads in the Double Gun Journal I think for his limited edition Elk Horn pipes, and possibly some other of his projects. There are also several pics of the Ranch in Oregon listed on the cabelastropyproperty website of Elk Song.
