I currently own a Mark V Deluxe in the 270 Wby Mag. I absolutley love the gun and the cartridge. Always wanted a Deluxe chambered for a Wby round.

Anyway, I poured over ballistics tables for more time than I care to say, in search of the best "do it all" round(for me).
I hunt mostly in Texas, but wanted a cartridge I could use for the ocassional trip out west. In the end, the 270 Wby Mag was the obvious choice. 100 Gr pills for varmits, all the way to 160's for the bigger N. American game. What sold it for me was the fact it shoots darn near as flat as the 257 Wby, but can also hold it's own against the 300 Wby. All while nudging you about like a 30-06.

The 300 Wby is an awesome round, but more gun than I need 90% of the time. It's the versatility thing that sold me. I think the 270 is more at home shooting Elk than the 300 is shooting coyotes and hogs. With that said,if I lived in Colorado, I might have given the 300 a closer look.
