Shot the H&R ultra slug hunter 12ga for years. It really liked the Hornady SST slugs. Great long range stand gun. Only downside was the weight, I even removed the metal rod from the stock and it's still a boat anchor. if you're doing drives through the woods I'd look in a different direction.
One might consider it in a 20ga, could be a bit lighter.
