Indeed they are quite tenacious when you put a bullet in them. I have seen many lost Axis that were shot with a 6mm, 243, 25-06 & 270's. Are 270's capable? You bet your boots they are. If you are going to chase Axis you need to hone your bullet placement skills and don't take marginal shots.
