I would second everybody who suggested checking the chamber on ANY older .300 H&H, even pre-'64 Model 70's, since so many were rechambered to .300 Weatherby and even some wildcats based on the .300 H&H. I know a guy who bought a pre-'64 that has been converted to .300 Wby. at a gun show, and it wasn't re-marked. He got a surprise when he extracted the first fired case!

Those rechamberings are one reason the price of pre-64's and 721's in .300 H&H are pretty high.
