Banks existed before Nation states.
Central banking, regulated banking those are bad ideas, can you imagine anyone showing up like the citizens of Northfield MN did to stop the raid on their banks today? If you don't have any real interest in your bank, you won't get the services you need from them - I want locals doing banking so I can borrow for business purposes instead of being so bill poor I have to borrow to get a washing machine.
It is funny, or maybe not, how so much "consumer credit" exists, but so little small business money.
