Thank you for sharing those stories with us, Steve. I recall reading The Fawn here a while ago and it really stuck with me, but I believe that my favorite of the 3 you've posted here today is Grandpa Hank.

To me it represents a glimpse at the life of a hero. I don't mean a hero in the sense that he's remembered for one or 2 brave events or feats of strength, or that he hit the game winning home run, but that he lived his life as a good man. Shared his life and love for his family openly and, by your tales, treated people fairly and honestly and is recognized for it. Men of that caliber aren't easy to find.
