My dad loves his levers in .308 (Sav 99, Win 88 etc) I was his load developer and reloader growing up so along with the ones I've owned, I've played with more than my share of those. Hands down the most accurate lever guns I've ever seen were the Sako Finnwolves. I think .308 is a pretty good deer/hog caliber.
