My daughter worked as a waitress while in college. The going wage was under $2/hr. plus tips. She worked hard at it and did reasonably well financially. She has told some stories of being stiffed after providing good service. I have watched and seen that the church crowd is notoriously stingy with tips, exceptions occur obviously.
