Well, I didn't pull the trigger, but was fortunate to be part of the FO team in a Huey UH-1.

Here's a pic from our helo, firing the USS New Jersey, at targets on San Clemente Island CA. You can see some of the projectiles in the upper left,

That's pretty cool with the visible shells. My father was on an LST at Kwajelein, Eniwetok and Tarawa and he said at night you could see the red hot shells going overhead during the bombardments.
