You know if ultra-liberals ever did make a move on gun confiscation, not only would about 95% of conservatives rebel, I'm betting half of those who support some type of gun control would also. For years millions of liberals have been convinced that all the paranoia about gun confiscation was just that, paranoia. To see it actually come to fruition I would imagine would rattle the hell out of many democrats that believed it so. Likewise forbidding 1st amendment rights of hunters and shooters would also be one bridge too far.

Sadly I think 95% of "conservatives" are full of bluster and bullspit. At best 5% would take action when push comes to shove. The problem is the incrementalism. If a fight is clear cut you'll get people to fight. The slow erosion of rights is the real killer.
