Hmm I may have to consider one too. My factory rebuilt Weedeater that is over 20 years old is starting to get tired.

Can you run blades on it, or string only?

string. Basically all I needed. So I'm satisfied. But I can see where one that had attachment capabilities would be an asset.

Never seen one here in N. Texas, and I hope I never do! But we got more than our share of Rattlers, and every once in a while, a Copperhead.

Neal, I remember when I was a kid in Ft. Worth there was this Boy Scout. Yes! A Boy Scout at Worth Ranch (Palo Pinto co) one weekend who just HAD TO play with a Coral snake he found on a camp out. Bit him several times in the web of his fingers good! This was about '68. They flew anti-venom in from Florida on a B-52 from Carswell AFB!!!

Back to the weed eater!! I love this thing!!!!!! Mebbe it's because I've done without for so long. But it meets my needs. And w/o fuel mix and noise to boot!

You can throw battery powered yard tools in the back of a car or SUV and no worries with gasoline spillage or odor of fumes. Took ours to the cemetery this morning to trim up close around family grave markers.

After buying a battery operated weed-eater a couple of years ago the only question I have is - "Why did I put up with the gas engine ones for so many years?"

I'm on my 2nd year using a Ryobi 40v and all is good. Be aware, these new batteries don't slow down. They go from full bore to dead in a heartbeat.

Bringing the topic back up.... cause a gal at work is looking for one, so I'm gonna point her to DeWalt.

In the meantime Carolyn caught a coral a few weeks ago in the yard and was thinking we could give to research for antivenom alive.

Alas she found no place to keep it and I was coming from a fire run and got paged to a CPR call so I told her to kill it.

I didn't measure when I got home but did put 2 feet aside it, it was at least 3-4 inches or so longer than my boots back to back which are exactly 12 inches each...

We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

FWIW, I have a Ryobi battery powered string trimmer and I love it! If you have a large yard, you may need to buy a spare battery, but I can't see any scenario where I'd go back to a gasoline powered string trimmer.

Hhave any of you that have purchased one of these battery powered weed eaters, bought any of the other attachments or other tools that can go with them? The small chainsaw on a pole looks like something I could use to trim back a tree that is raising hell with my gutters has me curious.
