Driving back to Wisconsin in 2001 in the 450SL I cruised at 140 for about half an hour on I-94. Speed limit in Montana then was "reasonable and prudent". A state trooper passed me along the way, looked at me, looked at my car, nodded, and sped on. He must have been doing 160 in that police interceptor.

94 on an old Brockway with a 425 cat and 15 speed double overdrive, 411 rears, grossing 100k got it in no13 and saw 94 on the speedo and never tried to get the other 2 gears!

240km/hr, or 149mph on the A6/Germany, a long stretch of wide open, no traffic, no-limit road. The car had been to 220km/hr a few times, just wanted to see how fast she'd go before feeling light.

Golldammed motion detector lights. A guy can’t even piss off his porch in peace any more.

around 180. Back in the day, we used to race from point A to point B, on a certain Florida Interstate. 25 miles. Run what you brung. Rolling start from 55 MPH. Radar checked for speed, but the first there was the winner. I was in a 1965 Ford, set up by an old NASCAR mechanic. It was fast. Won many a race.
At Laguna Seca I got the chance to do a lap on a world famous racers bike once and hit 157 on the straight. I was at that speed for about 3 seconds and backed out of it.
On my current bike that is capable of a top speed of over 180mph, I hit 145 once, and quickly backed out. Since then I've hit 130mph a couple of times, but for the most part, anything over 100mph kinda scares the crap out of me.
Here's someone else doing 0-180mph on a ZZR-1200, same bike as mine.
The speedometer had 110 on it, and the needle was WAY buried (as in going down into the gas gauge area under the far right side of the speedometer). Based upon some of the videos on this thread of guys going way faster, and about what the dashed line started to look like, I'd say somewhere around 140.
Oh, and it was in one of these, with a 4-speed automatic and a 350 cu.in. V-8, also coming down a hill and across a nice flat bridge with it topped out.
In fact, it was even the same color scheme.

How fast it hit that speed was scary . Long story short. Pulling tractors, time, youth and beer . Put a little taller gear and smooth turf tires on and cut it loose down the road it was a thrill but no fing way would I do it again or let my kids do it

Amazing roads! Been on the A6 a couple times near the CZ side. One thing for sure, at least for me, High speed on the A-bahn required complete attention to driving.

TFF...but are you sure it wasn't THIS station wagon??
Positive. Our family hauler wasn't that cool (but it didn't break down as much, either).
I do know that if you lay all the seats down, you can pile 17 high school kids in the back and three in the front with the driver in order to get to (or get the Hell away from) a party that you shouldn't be at to begin with.

On a bike trip with my bro. a couple years ago, we were heading into the Grand Canyon . My bro ahead of me on my old Guzzi, I was on my Thruxton. I missed a turn in Flagstaff or Williams ( don't remember where we got separated). By the time I hit the straight shot up to the canyon I was way behind. I was rolling along a little over 100 and watching headlights in my mirrors. The headlights gaining on me little by little. I pulled up to my bro. just as a young gal in a blue Plymouth Neon talking on her phone and smoking a cigarette blew by. My bro. had pulled over and he was putting on more clothes. I got a good laugh outta that.
