"Hate crime" is an illogical term to use for this. As someone else said "Murder isn't a love crime." Of course the news media will try to use this to make gun ownership look bad!

Watching Fox and this update came on. "White guy" and "hate crime" over and over a half dozen times in two min so I'm assuming without any other information that this is a black church or a mosque...

The officials have been quick to jump on the hate crime bandwagon yet there is not been any mention of a possible link with the Muslim terrorists factions.
It would seem logical to me to look at that too. But I doubt it will even be considered.

What if the "white" guy identifies himself as "black".....would it still be a "hate" crime?
I never see a headline where it states a black man walked into a church and opened fire. They would never say that, simply a man walked in. To allow it to read a white man is simply racial pandering by the media....but then again,,,racial pandering is how we ended up with that knuckle head in the WH.

Another unfortunate and reprehensible mass killing with a very typical suspect - young white male - and in a typical location. In SC churches are gun-free zones even for CWP holders, except with the explicit (written) permission of the pastor or church governing body. So this violator knew he was walking into a place where he could kill at will without high probability of armed opposition.
Another cowardly nut who fits the usual profile. Let's see what happens when LE runs him down and he has a choice about facing armed opposition.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem this church had formed one, but there is provision in SC regulations for CWP members of the congregation to attain Level 3 SLED certification and form FAST Teams to defend their church against exactly this unpredictable event. Let's hope this leads to change in the CWP law and spurs more FAST teams to form.

If someone will go into a church and shoot 9 people who are unarmed and worshipping it is a hate crime....race making no difference (not saying race did or didn't play a part here). In the end it will just be more fuel for race baiters and gun grabbers....
