Is that in Colorado? On the old ammo depot? If so, I went on a tour there and saw the biggest Mule der I've ever seen in my life.

Cool pictures, good detail.
Makes no matter where it is, there isn't a shooter in the bunch anyway.

Royce--
Nice photos.
Was driving out of town (you know which one) a week or 10 days ago with buddy to hunt birds when two bucks crossed the road in front of us. One was in velvet and the other one already hard-antlered, and they were about like the two biggest in your photo.
Might be a pretty good hunting season this year. The birds are up too!

Royce & MD,
How wide would you say those two bigger bucks are?

The dark horn buck is 23"-25" inside, none of the rest would go over 18" inside.

From seeing the bucks live a few times, I would say that Horse is giving a very good estimate. Remember, he is estimating the INSIDE spread, whcih Boone & Crockett uses, not the outside spread most people quote.

Nice Pics Royce
No doubt there is some good horn growth this year.
As for the dark horn buck I'd be a bit more conservative on the dark horn buck.
Tough to tell from the pics but it appears to me that the bucks are more in the 20-23 inside.
Unless you're seeing them in person it is very tough to tell though. The ears are sort of pointed for and aft and so it makes it very tough to judge.
It appears to me that the buck has 2 points on the right beam and the the fronts are small crab points.
It appears to me to be an immature buck.
Oddly enough though it does have some good G1's. Tough to find on a muley.
Thanks for sharing Royce

Depending on the size of the deer itself, ears on an alert Mule Deer will be 17"-20", maybe a touch more on a really big mature buck. Based on Pic #2, the dark horn buck is 20" ears (maybe a tad generous), 2" outside each ear, 20+2+2=24" inside spread. None of the rest make it to their ears, are younger bucks, in reality the rest are more likely 16" or less inside. This is all just "rule of thumb", and like any thumb it's made to be broken.

Thanks guys, I would have guessed 24" at the most. Just trying to get an idea what to look for, we leave for a Wyoming trip in 3 weeks.

Hey, those bucks are in my camelina & flax!
They love the stuff. I'm trying to see if I can get a grant to study high Omega-3 oilseed consumption's effect on antler growth.
These were just the run-of-the-mill bucks, though. The best I saw in there was about a 150. I have a Bridger buck tag, but am holding out for 180+, & I've only ever seen one of those down here...
